Task: Link and synchronize Smart Tag promotional slides across multiple store locations or multiple playlists within a single store.
Platform: Budvue Dashboard / Smart Tag Menus
Use this article when: You manage multiple store locations—or multiple playlists within one location (e.g., Lobby screens, Checkout screens, Drive-thru screens)—and want to manage shared Smart Tag slides from a single spot.
How Smart Tag Syncing Works
When creating or editing a Smart Tag slide, enabling Keep Smart Tag Slides Linked creates connected "sister versions" of your slide across all selected playlists.
Synchronized Content Updates: Any edits made to smart tag product selections, heading text, background images, or layout styling on one slide automatically sync across all linked copies in the group.
Store-Specific POS Protection: Location-specific system settings—such as live POS integrations—stay isolated. Each store continues pulling its own correct local pricing and inventory data.
Step-by-Step: Linking Smart Tag Slides Across Playlists
Navigate to the Content Library of your dashboard.
Choose your Smart Tag template, set your background images, update your headings and tagged products.
In the TV Playlists section, select all the playlists where you want this slide to appear.
Check the box labelled Keep Smart Tag Slides Linked.
Save your slide.
Managing Linked Slides on the Playlist Dashboard
Once saved, your playlist dashboard makes it easy to track where synchronized slides are running:
Playlist Status Counter: Linked Smart Tag slides display a badge showing Running in X Playlists (e.g., Running in 4 playlists).
Location Popovers: Click the badge to view the full list of playlists running synchronized copies.
Automatic Playlist Tracking: Opening the edit screen for any linked version automatically displays all assigned playlists as checked.
Managing & Unlinking Synchronized Slides
Depending on whether you want to update one location, remove a playlist entirely, or break the entire sync group apart, follow these exact methods:
Scenario A: Remove a slide from specific playlists (Without breaking sync for the rest)
If you want to stop running the slide on Store A, but keep Store B and Store C synchronized:
Open the Edit screen for the linked Smart Tag slide.
In the TV Playlists section, uncheck the specific playlists you want to remove.
Keep Keep Smart Tag Slides Linked checked.
Save your changes.
Result: The slide is cleanly removed from Store A, while Store B and C remain linked and synchronized.
Scenario B: Turn a linked slide into a standalone copy for one store
If Store A wants to run a unique version of the promo with different headings or images while keeping Store B and Store C synchronized together:
Follow Scenario A to uncheck Store A's playlists from the linked slide and save.
Create a new Smart Tag slide specifically for the Store A playlist(s) without checking the link box.
Result: Store A now has its own independent slide, while Store B and C remain linked together.
Scenario C: Break the sync chain for ALL playlists (Complete Unlink)
If you want to permanently disconnect all slides in the group so every store location can edit their slides independently moving forward:
Open the Edit screen for any slide in the linked group.
Uncheck Keep Smart Tag Slides Linked.
Save your changes.
Result: All sister copies across every playlist are now independent, standalone slides. Any future edits made to one slide will no longer affect the others.
Expected result: Linking Smart Tag slides allows multi-store managers and single stores running several screens to update tagged products, headings, and visual assets everywhere in a single action, while keeping local inventory and pricing accurate.
