Dashboard: Slide Locks & Schedule Previews Guide

Modified on Tue, 4 Aug at 4:50 PM

Task: Understand playlist lock types, slide permissions, and schedule preview calculations in the Budvue Dashboard.

Platform: Budvue Dashboard / Playlist Management

Use this article when: You see an "Editing Locked," "Slide Locked," or "SCHEDULED" badge on your playlist slides and need to know what controls are restricted or how to adjust playback settings.

1. Menu Screen Lock ('Editing Locked')

  • Why it appears: Budvue Support locks core, full-screen menu layouts to prevent accidental layout corruption or broken inventory feeds.

  • What you see: An Editing Locked badge on the slide thumbnail and title, along with a disabled play ratio slider.

  • What is restricted: Store users cannot edit the slide content, layout settings, or play frequency for these fixed menu layouts.

  • Action required: Email tvsupport@budvue.com if you need updates made to your menu screens or want to adjust menu slide settings.

2. Corporate Mandate Lock ('Slide Locked')

  • Why it appears: Your corporate head office (Company Admin) locks mandatory brand campaigns, promos, or legal slides across multiple locations.

  • What you see: A Slide Locked badge next to the slide title (e.g., Holidaze 4/20).

  • What is restricted: Store users are restricted from deleting or removing the slide from their location playlist.

  • Action required: Contact your corporate Company Admin if a mandated corporate slide needs to be removed from your screen loop.

3. Play Frequency Lock ('Slide Ratio Lock')

  • How it works: Locking a slide's ratio fixes its broadcast play frequency percentage so it stays constant.

  • Why use it: It prevents adding, removing, or adjusting other slides from automatically shifting this slide's rotation share.

  • How to control it: Click the Lock/Unlock button in the Plays column to toggle ratio locking ON or OFF as needed.

4. Multi-Location Restriction ('Playlist Access Lock')

  • Why it appears: The slide is currently assigned to run in multiple store playlists, and your user account does not have management permissions for all of those locations.

  • What you see: An Editing Locked overlay and a dropdown menu listing running locations (e.g., Running in 3 playlists).

  • What is restricted: Prevents individual store users from accidentally altering promo slides that are shared with other store locations.

  • Action required: Contact your corporate team if you need multi-location manager permissions.

5. Scheduled Slide Previews & Overlap Calculations

Slides scheduled to run on future dates display a SCHEDULED badge alongside a Preview Schedule button.

Clicking Preview Schedule opens a side drawer that calculates exactly how your playlist's play ratios and hourly repetitions will look during that specific campaign window.

  • Target Date Range: View the start/end dates (e.g., Aug 1 – Aug 7) and calculated plays per hour.

  • Overlapping Slide Distribution: Displays progress bars and percentage share for all active slides running simultaneously during that scheduled window.

  • Clean Title View: Automatically filters out system badges, tag lists, and location dropdowns so you can read primary slide names clearly.

Expected result: Identifying lock badges allows you to quickly manage play ratios or route update requests to the correct support team without workflow delays.
