This guide explains how Budvue works with your Profitek POS — how the integration is set up, where your product information comes from, and how to use Web Attributes to control what displays on your menus.
Setting Up the Integration
Profitek integration is handled a little differently from other POS systems — you don't need to request API access yourself. Our team takes care of the connection setup on your behalf.
To get started, simply contact us at tvsupport@budvue.com and let us know you're a Profitek client. We'll coordinate with Profitek to get your credentials and set everything up.
Where Does Product Information Come From?
All product details displayed on your Budvue menus are pulled directly from your Profitek POS. Updates to product names, prices, categories, and more will automatically reflect on your screens within about 15 minutes.
Field Mapping
Menu Field | Profitek Source |
|---|---|
Product Name | Name field (within the product variant) |
Description | Description field |
Category | Category Name (e.g., Dried Flower, Pre-Rolls) |
Parent Category | Parent Category Name (e.g., Cannabis) |
Supplier | Supplier Name field |
Strain Type | Strain field |
Size / Weight | Selling Unit field (e.g., 3.5g) |
UPC | UPC field |
Price | Price field |
Sale Price | Special Price field (see Sale Pricing below) |
THC | THC field |
CBD | CBD field |
Product Image | Image URL field (Small, Medium, or Large) |
Note on THC / CBD: Profitek stores THC and CBD values at the product level rather than the individual batch or lot level. This means all units of a product will display the same THC/CBD values.
Sale Pricing
Profitek supports sale pricing natively. When you set a Special Price on a product in Profitek, Budvue will automatically display it as the sale price on your menus. You can also set effective start and end dates for the sale, and your menus will update accordingly when the promotion begins and expires.
Web Attributes — Custom Product Fields
Profitek uses a feature called Web Attributes (not "custom fields") to let you add extra product information that displays on your Budvue menus. Web Attributes give you control over what appears on your menus beyond the standard product fields above.
Common uses for Web Attributes include:
Displaying additional product details (e.g., effects, flavour profile, terpenes)
Applying Flags to highlight specific products (see below)
To set up Web Attributes for your account, contact us at tvsupport@budvue.com — we'll send you step-by-step instructions tailored to your Profitek setup.
How to Highlight Specific Products with Flags
Budvue makes it easy to draw attention to specific products using icons called Flags (e.g., "Sale", "Staff Pick", "Featured", "Hot"). In Profitek, Flags are applied using Web Attributes.
To get Flags set up on your menu:
Contact us at tvsupport@budvue.com to have the flags coded into your menu design.
We'll send you instructions on which Web Attribute to use and exactly how to apply it to products in Profitek.
A Note on Your Internet Connection
Unlike most cloud-based POS systems, Profitek data is stored on-site at your store rather than in the cloud. This means Budvue connects directly to your in-store system to retrieve product information.
Because of this, there are a couple of things to be aware of:
If your store's internet goes down, your screens won't be able to receive updates until the connection is restored.
If your store's IP address changes (for example, after a router replacement or internet provider change), your Budvue integration may stop receiving data. If this happens, contact us right away at tvsupport@budvue.com and we'll update your connection details.
