Use this article when: You are setting up a new Google Streamer, or reinstalling Budvue on a Google Streamer after a factory reset.

Do not use this article if: You have a BuzzTV or DS1 device — see BuzzTV / DS1: Hardware Connection & Initial Setup instead.

What You'll Need

  • Google TV Streamer 4K

  • HDMI cord

  • TV with an available HDMI port

  • Power adapter and USB-C cable (included with Google Streamer)

  • Wi-Fi network name and password

  • Access code for this screen (found in Budvue Dashboard → Devices tab)

Steps

Step 1: Connect the Google Streamer to Your TV

  1. Plug the Google Streamer into an HDMI port on the back or side of your TV using a high-speed HDMI cable.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  3. Switch your TV's input to the HDMI port the Google Streamer is plugged into — the Google setup screen will appear.

Expected result: The Google TV welcome and setup screen appears on your TV.

Step 2: Connect to Wi-Fi

Follow the on-screen instructions using your Google remote to connect to your store's Wi-Fi network. You will need your Wi-Fi network name and password.

  • Important: Connect to your standard business Wi-Fi — not a guest network. Guest networks can expire, require daily browser logins, and interrupt your screen service.

Expected result: Google Streamer connects to Wi-Fi, completes any initial system updates, and proceeds to the main Google home screen.

Step 3: Download the Budvue App

  1. From the Google TV home screen, navigate to the top menu and select Apps.
  2. Search for "Budvue".
  3. Select the app from the search results and tap Install.
  4. Once the installation is finished, open the app.

Expected result: The Budvue app opens and displays a setup/access code screen.

Step 4: Enter Your Access Code

  1. Click Next or Arrow through the first steps of the setup (adjusting the screen size, as well as the orientation).
  2. When prompted, enter the unique 5-digit access code for this screen.
    • Access codes are found by logging into the Budvue Dashboard and navigating to the TV → Devices tab.
    • Each code is single-use only. Generate a new one from the Dashboard if needed.

Expected result: The Budvue app accepts the code, syncs with your dashboard, and your menu content begins displaying.

Resolution

If the Budvue menu is displaying correctly on your TV, the initial hardware and software setup is complete.
