BuzzTV/DS1: Black Screen

Device: BuzzTV / DS1 (Android)
Issue: The screen is completely black.

Use this article when: Your TV screen is completely black and you have confirmed the TV is turned on and set to the correct HDMI input.

Do not use this article if:

  • The screen is solid blue — see BuzzTV / DS1: Solid Blue Screen instead.

  • The screen is white — see BuzzTV / DS1: White Screen instead.

  • The screen goes black between ads on a Promo TV — see Promo TV: Black Screen Between Ads instead.


Step 1: Check the Basics

Before anything else, confirm all of the following:

  • The TV is turned on and plugged in.

  • The BuzzTV / DS1 box is plugged in and powered on.

  • The TV's input is set to the correct HDMI port — the one the BuzzTV box is connected to.


Step 2: Check the Blue Light on the BuzzTV Box

Look at the front of the BuzzTV box.

If there IS a blue light (device is on — issue is likely the HDMI connection):

  1. Try a different HDMI port on your TV.

  2. Try a different HDMI cable.

  3. If another TV is available, plug the BuzzTV box into it to rule out a TV issue.

Expected result: Screen shows BuzzTV content after switching HDMI port or cable.


If there is NO blue light (device is not receiving power):

  1. Check that all cords are plugged in securely at both ends.

  2. Try a different wall outlet.

  3. Try a different power cord from another working device.

Expected result: Blue light appears when device receives power.


Resolution

If the screen displays content after completing the relevant steps above, no further action is needed.

If the screen is still black after trying all relevant steps, email tvsupport@budvue.com with:

  • Whether the blue light is on or off

  • What HDMI port and cable you tested

  • Device serial number (sticker on the bottom of the BuzzTV box)

  • Steps you have already tried
