FireStick: App Crashing

Modified on Mon, 6 Apr at 8:36 AM

Device: Amazon FireStick / Fire TV
Issue: The Budvue app keeps closing on its own, freezing, or behaving erratically.

Use this article when: The Budvue app on your FireStick is crashing, restarting unexpectedly, or freezing repeatedly.

Do not use this article if:

  • The screen is black or blank — see the relevant screen troubleshooting article first.

  • The app fails to open at all after a fresh install — see FireStick: Uninstall and Reinstall the Budvue App instead.

Steps

Step 1: Clear the App Cache and Data

This gives the app a clean start by removing old temporary files.

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, go to Settings.

  2. Select Applications → Manage Installed Applications.

  3. Find and select Budvue.

  4. Select Clear Cache, then select Clear Data.

  5. Reopen the Budvue app.

Expected result: The app opens and runs without crashing.

Step 2: Close Other Running Apps

Apps running in the background can consume memory and cause Budvue to crash.

  1. Hold the Home button on your FireStick remote.

  2. Select Apps.

  3. Close any apps you do not need running.

Best practice: Only the Budvue app should be installed on your store's FireStick. Even unused apps drain memory and can cause performance issues.

Expected result: With fewer apps running, the Budvue app runs stably.

Step 3: Clear All App Caches (Optional)

If clearing only the Budvue cache did not help:

  1. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications.

  2. Select Clear all Application Caches.

  3. Confirm when prompted.

  4. Reopen the Budvue app.

Expected result: All cached data cleared; app runs normally.

Resolution

If the app is running stably after clearing the cache and closing other apps, no further action is needed.

If the app continues to crash, the next step is a clean reinstall — see FireStick: Uninstall and Reinstall the Budvue App.
