Firestick: White Screen

Modified on Thu, 14 May at 4:37 PM

Device: Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K / 4K Max

Issue: The screen is solid white or blank with no background, headings, or content displayed.

Use this article when: Your Firestick is showing a solid white display. This typically means the app is open, but it is unable to reach the Budvue server to download your menu assets or the app cache has become "stuck."

Do not use this article if:

  • The screen is black — Check your HDMI input and power cable.

  • You see a black box over your content — see FireStick: Black Rectangle on Screen.

  • You have a BuzzTV device — see BuzzTV/DS1: White Screen instead.

Steps

  1. Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure the Firestick has not lost its internet connection.

    • Press the Home button on your Alexa remote.

    • Navigate to Settings (Gear Icon)Network.

    • Highlight your Wi-Fi network and ensure it says "Connected to the internet."

  2. Reboot & Clear Cache: Most white screen issues on Firesticks are resolved by refreshing the app's session data.

    • While on the white screen, press OK (center circle) on your remote to open the Admin Panel.

    • Select Reset App and allow it to relaunch.

    • Crucial: Open the Admin Panel again and select Clear Cache.

    • Full Guide: How to Reboot & Clear Cache (Firestick)

  3. Verify Dashboard Content: Confirm that the playlist assigned to the device actually has active content.

    • Log in to the Budvue Dashboard.

    • Navigate to the Playlist page for this device.

    • Ensure there is at least one slide in the playlist and that the toggle switch is turned ON (Green).

Expected result: The white screen disappears, and the menu background and products begin to load.

Resolution

If the menu appears after checking the connection and clearing the cache, no further action is needed.

Contact Support

If the white screen persists after these steps, we need to see the device status. Please email tvsupport@budvue.com with:

  • A Photo of the Admin Panel: Press OK on your remote to open the panel and take a clear photo of the information displayed.

  • Device Serial Number: (Visible in the Admin Panel).

  • Confirmation: Mention that you have already verified the Wi-Fi and cleared the cache.
